Main Library

The Main Library of the Tuscaloosa Public Library offers books, eBooks, databases, music and audio books, CDs as well as DVDs to Tuscaloosa County library patrons. As the headquarters for ordering, receiving, processing and circulating these items, the Main Library also serves as a gateway to information, knowledge and entertainment.

The Reference Department assists patrons in finding answers to questions and in exploring different worlds of information through print and digital resources. The Library’s IT department operates computer services for Main Library, the Weaver Bolden Branch and the Brown Branch as well as a computer lab with 16 computers.  Also located at the Main Library are the Reader's Advisory Department, with reading suggestions, book discussion group and library programs. As a center for learning, literacy and entertainment, the Youth Services Department provides books, CDs, DVDs and a full schedule of programs for ages birth to eighteen.  The Main Library also houses the Books by Mail Department, and the Bookmobile Department. For meetings that meet the TPL guidelines, the Main Library has the Rotary Room, furnished by the Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa, available for use by the public, free of charge. All library services and materials are free to residents of Tuscaloosa County. People living in other counties may use the library by paying a $10 a year fee.
